Swirling Circles Delaunay Wool Scarf
Swirling Circles Delaunay Wool Scarf
This colorful wool scarf “André Derain” is based on a painting by the artist of the same name. This 190 cm long and 70 cm wide bowl made of wool with a small amount of silk comes in wonderful colors - and with a detail from the painting "Estaque" by André Derain (1880-1954). He painted this picture in the Fauvism style in 1905 using oil paints on canvas. It is now privately owned. L'Estaque is a picturesque coastal town in Marseille that was once a fishing village. Derain painted numerous landscape pictures of the harbor, the sea, boats, buildings and plants. Along with Henri Matisse, the Frenchman is one of the main representatives of the Fauvism art movement, but is also classified as a classical modern artist.
